Derby County gem will be wondering why Paul Warne made one decision in the summer transfer window.
Derby County’s start to the 2024/25 campaign has been heavily-influenced by the brilliant showings from Paul Warne’s midfield, with Kenzo Goudmijn, Ebou Adams and David Ozoh having a positive impact so far in the centre-of-the-park.
The Rams will unfortunately be without the latter for the upcoming clash against Hull City, with Ben Osborn facing the brunt of responsibility to live up to the Crystal Palace loanee’s performances.
Aside from the midfield talents within the squad, it is safe to say that up until this point the attack have not quite been on top form, with Jerry Yates scoring just once so far in the 2024/25 Championship season.
As a result of the lack of attacking options, and those starting not quite managing to live up to expectations, there will be one Derby County gem that will be left bemused over one decision made by Warne in the summer.

Dajaune Brown must be confused by key Derby County future decision made by Paul Warne
Rams striker Dajaune Brown endured a brilliant loan spell at Gateshead last season, where he managed to score six goals in 18 appearances for the National League side.
The loan move in the 2023/24 season looked to provide a stepping stone for Brown to get necessary gametime in the EFL for his own development, and that could have maybe seen him in-and-around the Derby County first team by the 2025/26 campaign.
However, it didn’t quite pan out as expected for Brown as Warne made the ‘selfish’ decision in keeping him at the club, even though the options of Yates, alongside Kayden Jackson, James Collins and Conor Washington stayed at the club.

Paul Warne must sanction loan move for Dajaune Brown in January
The sheer lack of Derby County game time for Brown, who has only accumulated 14 minutes worth of time on the pitch in the Championship so far, will without a doubt contribute to stagnating his development at the age-of-19.
The Rams man will without a doubt be eager to get back on the pitch and replicate what he did at Gateshead, only at a higher level, and it would be in the best interests of all parties to potentially sanction a loan deal for Brown to move onto League Two.
This would be a perfect opportunity, not only for Brown to further his development, but for Warne to correct something that he got heavily wrong in the build up to the 2024/25 Championship season, and he must certainly recognise that his ‘selfish’ move in hindsight was the wrong one.
