Paul Warne will have spent the international meticulously analysing Millwall ahead of Derby County’s trip to the Den on Saturday.

Derby County secured their fourth home win of the season as Curtis Nelson and Marcus Harness helped the Rams to a 2-0 win over QPR.

The international break has stopped Derby from building any momentum but they have a chance to secure their first away win of the campaign this weekend.

Paul Warne’s men face a Millwall side who are currently 18th in the Championship and have lost two of their four home matches, with Luton Town and Watford getting the better of them.

David Prutton predicts Millwall to make it a third win against Derby, however, Warne can change that narrative by unleashing one of his talented stars to exploit a key weakness in the hosts side.

Corey Blackett-Taylor should start for Derby vs Millwall

Corey Blackett-Taylor is still waiting to make his first start for the Rams this season.

The 27-year-old has struggled since arriving on an initial loan deal from Charlton Athletic in January, which was made permanent this summer.

A mixture of injuries and struggling for regular game time have impacted his confidence and form but the Englishman has shown signs of producing the magic that was often seen at the Valley.

Blackett-Taylor came off the bench to score against Norwich before threatening in the defeat to Sunderland and win over QPR.

Blackett-Taylor who has been labelled as ‘magnificent’ by journalist Leigh Curtis deserves his chance to start on the left wing, however, Warne has preferred Nathaniel Mendez-Laing to start instead.

That said, with Mendez-Laing playing against Costa Rica for Guatemala on Wednesday, perhaps Warne could rest the 32-year-old and give Blackett-Taylor a rare start.

Blackett-Taylor can exploit Millwall’s weakness

Derby fans feel excited when they watch the fleet-footed Englishman.

As soon as he picks up the ball, his first thought is to drive at the defence and this is an avenue that could prove fruitful against the Lions.

Millwall are short on options on the right side of defence, with Harris transforming midfielder Ryan Leonard into a right-back.

Although he’s played there since the end of last season and largely impressed, Blackett-Taylor would perhaps fancy his chances of beating him for pace and skill.

Blackett-Taylor already showcased his threat by cutting in from the left in a short cameo against Norwich in September. Therefore, sooner rather than later he deserves to start, and that could be this weekend.
