Derby County manager Phillip Cocu has been quoted by Turkish press Haberler as confirming his interest in signing Ferdi Kadioglu in a loan deal this coming January.

According to a report by Fotospor, the Rams are looking to sign young Dutch midfielder Ferdi Kadioglu as they look to bolster their squad in the January transfer window.

Kadioglu is currently at Fenerbahçe on a contract until 2022.

When asked by a Turkish reporter, Cocu admits buying the Fenerbahce player could prove quite difficult but a loan deal may suit both parties involved.

It is very difficult to buy but a better option to rent. Both sides may remain satisfied because of the rental situation.

Kadioglu remains extremely highly-rated. He starred at NEC, and his performances back in Holland prompted Phillip Cocu to sign him for Fenerbahce,

His time in Turkey, however, has been a bit stop-start. Cocu’s sacking at the club last season didn’t help, and many expected the 20-year-old to move on last summer.

But Kadioglu has since broken into the first team picture. He has scored two goals and grabbed one assist in his last six outings after making his debut this season.

Derby lack creativity. Their go-to attacker Tom Lawrence has only managed to post two assists in his last 50 Championship games. That stat sums up their current predicament.

The Rams will have Wayne Rooney join them in January. However, Cocu’s side are still short on quality and supporters will be hoping the Dutchman can strengthen the side.
