Derby County are interested in signing West Han United striker Divin Mubama.
According to Claret and Hugh, the Rams are looking at a potential loan deal for Mubama in January as a replacement for Tyreece John-Jules, whose loan deal from Arsenal is set to expire in the new year.
West Ham are keen to tie Mubama down to a new contract at the London Stadium, with Hammers manager David Moyes highly rating the 18-year-old.
He has only made three substitute appearances for Moyes so far this season, with one of those being in the EFL Cup and the other two in the Europa League.
He has been knocking on the door of the first team for quite some after an impressive record with the under-21s in Premier League 2.
Since the start of last season, he has scored 19 goals in 28 games for the under-21s, being a prolific goal scorer at that level.
He most certainly needs some senior game time though in order for him to fulfil his potential.
John-Jules loan spell not gone quite to plan
John-Jules’ loan spell has been disrupted a lot so far, due to a thigh injury that has kept him out of action since early September.
He could return to Paul Warne’s squad, however, when they host Bristol Rovers on Saturday afternoon in their first game after the November international break.
Warne has spoken on John-Jules’ situation already, saying that he needs to play more in order for them to make a decision.
Should Derby sign Mubama?
Mubama would definitely be an interesting addition in John-Jules’ place for Derby.
The ‘highly-rated’ youngster possesses some similar attributes to John-Jules, in him being pacey, big, powerful and a very hard-working striker.
At 18 years old he is still very raw though, so Warne may have to be patient with him before he gets into gear, as he adapts to senior football.
