According to the Guardian, former Derby County manager Nigel Pearson is set to take over at Bristol City following the sacking of Dean Holden.
Pearson is currently out of work after his sacking from Watford last season.
The 57-year-old held a 1.25 points-per-game record with Watford but he was bizarrely dismissed two games from the end with the Hornets three points above the drop zone.
Watford ultimately got relegated with Aston Villa staying up.

Now, the Guardian claim Pearson is set to join Bristol City until the end of the season with the view to a longer deal having held productive talks on Sunday.

The Robins are in freefall in the Championship, losing seven straight games.
Dean Holden, who took charge following Lee Johnson’s dismissal, was appointed on a 12-month contract but he has failed to push City on from last season.
Pearson has plenty of experience at Championship level.
He had a decent spell at Hull City before winning the Championship title with Leicester City in 2013-14 with a whopping 102 points as the Foxes ran away with it.
But his return to the east Midlands with Derby County was short-lived.

The Rams appointed Pearson in 2015-16 with the goal of promotion to the Premier League after previous failed attempts under both Steve McClaren and Paul Clement.
But Pearson lasted just 14 games in charge at Pride Park, winning only once in the Championship. His 21% win record in all competitions ranks among Derby’s worst in their history.
Pearson has shown his capabilities as a manager. However, it was just a case of wrong club, wrong time when looking back on his spell at Derby. It was a disaster.
Bristol City will be hoping his arrival will be one of those cases where it works out.
