Derby County manager Paul Warne has confirmed the club will offer a ‘brilliant’ free agent a contract ahead of 2024/25.
Derby County have been in the market for a new goalkeeper since Joe Wildsmith left the club as a free agent earlier this summer.
Josh Vickers is the Rams’ only first-team option at present, leading to plenty of transfer links.
Marek Rodak has been linked with a move to Derby, while Daniel Iversen has also been on the radar of the Championship outfit.
In recent days, Derby have stepped up their pursuit of a goalkeeper, with two new names now expected to pen deals at Pride Park.
Derby have agreed a deal with Swedish side Djurgardens to sign their goalkeeper Zetterstrom for a fee of around £1.4m.
Djurgardens’ sporting director has also claimed that he expects Zetterstrom to play for Derby, seemingly confirming the transfer.
Derby County to offer Rohan Luthra contract
Now, Paul Warne has provided an update on the future of goalkeeper Rohan Luthra.
Luthra is currently a free agent after leaving Cardiff City at the end of the 2023/24 season.
However, the shot-stopper was part of the Rams’ warm-weather training camp in Spain and featured in friendlies against Stockport County and Chesterfield.
But Warne has now stated that the 22-year-old, who he dubbed ‘brilliant’, will come in as Derby’s third-choice keeper for the new season, as per Derbyshire Live.
He said: “He’s trained with us and he’s a great kid. He’s been brilliant in training and he will come in as third choice.
“He’s just a young man and I think we will keep him. He’s been a great addition.”

Derby County remaining transfer priorities
Luthra and Zetterstrom’s arrivals will solve Derby’s goalkeeper issues for the upcoming season.
The newly-promoted side have already signed four central midfielders, two centre-forwards, and one right-winger as they prepare to battle for Championship survival.
But further incomings are still expected to arrive at Pride Park before deadline day next month.
Warne has outlined four signings Derby County need to make before their season opener versus Blackburn Rovers on August 9th.
He said: “I am looking for a 10 and maybe another nine, a centre-back and a goalkeeper. They are the ones really. Potentially I would be looking for a left-back.”
With the goalkeeper position expected to be sorted soon, a striker, number 10, central defender and left-back could all still arrive at the club in the next few weeks.
