Derby manager Paul Warne has confirmed he is ‘hopeful’ that they will be able to confirm a signing by 6pm tonight.
“Hopefully by 6pm tonight, there will be something out there. That’s what I am hoping,” Warne told the Derby Telegraph.
Warne also went on to say that Derby had agreed a deal with a player last week, but on Saturday their offer got ‘gazumped’ by a Championship team.
“I got told, and it’s through nobody’s fault, on Saturday after the game that everything was agreed with one player and then we got gazumped by a Championship club. He is a very good player, and we lost out on him, which was hugely disappointing.
“But we have two targets we have been trying to get for a while now and hopefully by 6pm tonight the fans will know who they are.”
Paul Warne looking to add attacking options

Warne has spoken recently about looking to add to his attacking options, with strikers Michael Smith and Georgie Kelly being linked of late.
Warne has said that the two players he hopes to sign will add something to the squad which he feels they currently lack.
“They have something that we don’t have enough of – they have pace and a bit of creativity,” he said.
“We need that in abundance. We have a lot of great things but I don’t think a team can never have too many creative options.
“We’ve always needed a little bit more especially at home when teams come and sit behind the ball.
“We need different ways to score. These players bring different attributes to the squad that I don’t think currently we have.”
The Rams have had a mixed start to the season, winning two and losing two in their opening four League One games of the season. They also lost at home to Blackpool in the EFL Cup.
Derby’s main negative this season has been there form at home, which was so strong last season – so it is unclear as to what has gone wrong so far this campaign.
Derby are away at Peterborough United on Saturday afternoon.
