Dajaune Brown is a wanted man after his impressive showing for Derby County in midweek.
The Rams were in action on Tuesday evening, looking to bounce back from their opening-day defeat in the Championship.
Derby County were beaten 4-2 by Blackburn Rovers to kick off their 2024/25 Championship season.
It was an unwelcome start to life in the second division for Paul Warne and his men but they have since put things write.
The Derbyshire outfit faced off with local rivals Chesterfield in the first round of the League Cup on Tuesday.
When all was said and done, Derby beat Chesterfield 2-1 at Pride Park to book their spot in the next round of the competition.
Armando Dobra put the away side 1-0 up with just under 30 minutes played but goals from Liam Thompson and Kayden Jackon saw Warne’s men fight back to secure a much-needed win.
Paul Warne confirms Dajaune Brown transfer interest
Several players shone during the Rams’ midweek victory, potentially playing their way into the eleven for Derby’s clash with Middlesbrough this weekend.
Craig Forsyth impressed for Derby versus Chesterfield and could give Warne a welcome selection headache at left-back.
Elsewhere, 18-year-old academy starlet Dajaune Brown earned mixed reviews from Derby fans after his showing.
But the teenager was praised heavily by a teammate, with Liam Thompson labelling Brown ‘great’ after the Chesterfield win.
Thompson is seemingly not the only person who is a fan of Brown as Warne has confirmed that eight EFL clubs are interested in signing the young striker, as per Derbyshire Live.
He said: “I’ve had many clubs in League Two and League One phone me about him. Eight clubs have asked if they can meet and present and pitch themselves to him in case he is available.”
Should Derby County let Dajaune Brown leave
One of the weakest areas of Derby’s squad at present is their striker department.
Jerry Yates and Jackson have been signed over the summer but neither player is a prolific goalscorer.
In turn, Warne could perhaps do with another centre-forward to lean on for goals in 2024/25.
Whether or not that could be Brown remains up for debate, however, as he still has very little senior experience under his belt.
The Jamaican has scored 14 goals and assisted four in 21 outings for the Rams’ U21 side.
He also impressed during a brief loan spell with Gateshead Town, netting six in 18 outings across all competitions.
However, Derby will be in a relegation fight this season and probably should not rely on a player who has never featured in the Championship before.
Instead, Warne should look to loan Brown out this month to a lower-league side so he can gain some first-team experience and potentially be a key figure at Derby in the following season.
