According to a report by Last Word on Football, Derby County and Birmingham City are among several clubs looking to sign former Huddersfield Town man Alex Pritchard.

Pritchard cost Huddersfield a whopping £10 million fee back in 2018.

But the former Norwich City man fell out of favour with the Terriers, and he recently left on a free transfer at the end of his contract as Huddersfield look to cut their squad.

Pritchard was one of the nine players to leave the Yorkshire club last week.

But the 28-year-old may not be without a club for long, as the latest reports from Last Word on Football claim Derby and Birmingham are showing a strong interest.

The Rams were linked with Pritchard in January by the Telegraph.

Derby were the lowest scorers in the Championship last season, and Wayne Rooney’s side only secured survival following a chaotic final day 3-3 draw with Sheffield Wednesday.

Lee Gregory and Patrick Roberts have since returned to their parent clubs following loan spells, with Martyn Waghorn is out of contract at Pride Park next month.

Derby must strengthen in attack this summer and with limited finances, Pritchard on a free transfer could represent a decent opportunity for the east Midlands club.

The former England U21 international can play either through the middle or out wide. The ability is there, but he may need certain attention to help him realise his potential.
