According to Footmercato, AS Monaco have made reported Derby County and Swansea City target Samuel Grandsir available for transfer in January.

The French club are still looking to downsize their squad.

Former Bayern Munich manager Niko Kovac took charge in the summer, and his first task was to reshape the senior squad with over 40 players on their books.

Grandsir, 24, was heavily linked with a move in the summer.

According to Sky Sports and Wales Online, Derby and Swansea were keen on him, but the Championship duo weren’t willing to pay his £2.3 million asking price.

Grandsir, meanwhile, saw a deadline day move to Real Valladolid fall through (La Razon).

The former France U21 international has since been cast aside by Monaco, not featuring after failing to make their 25-man squad for the 2020-21 campaign.

And Footmercato claim the Principality club would welcome a January deal.

Swansea are currently fourth in the Championship table and a strong January transfer window could see Steve Cooper’s side push Bournemouth and Brentford for automatic promotion.

Derby, meanwhile, are still in the bottom three despite a six-game unbeaten run.

Interim manager Wayne Rooney has improved Derby since dropping out the squad and focusing on managing. However, he may wish to strengthen the team in January.

Kamil Jozwiak has been an excellent addition, but fellow summer arrival Jordon Ibe has yet to start a game for the Rams due to fitness issues. Tom Lawrence, meanwhile, is out of form and young talent Morgan Whittaker still looks raw at Championship level.

Grandsir could represent a fine option for Derby in January.
