Nathaniel Mendez-Laing has shared his thoughts on one of Derby County’s 2024 summer transfer additions.
Derby County are gearing up for their first season back in the Championship since 2022/23.
With the backing of owner David Clowes, manager Paul Warne has been supported heavily in the 2024 summer transfer window so far.
Derby have agreed a deal with Swedish side Djurgardens to sign their goalkeeper Zetterstrom, who could become the Rams’ seventh signing this window.
Ebou Adams, Kenzo Goudmijn, Ben Osborn, Corey Blackett-Taylor, Kayden Jackson, and Jerry Rates have all joined the club’s first-team squad ahead of the 2024/25 Championship season.
David Ozoh arrived on a season-long loan from Crystal Palace on Wednesday as Derby’s sixth summer addition.
Nathaniel Mendez-Laing offers David Ozoh verdict
Ozoh made his debut for Derby against Chesterfield in midweek, coming off the bench in the 4-0 defeat.
The 19-year-old has plenty of potential and has previously been described as ‘gifted’ by Patrick Vieira.
Ozoh may have been at Pride Park for just a few days but the talented midfielder has seemingly made a lasting first impression.
Speaking to the club’s media recently, Nathaniel Mendez-Laing was asked how Derby’s new additions are settling in and was quick to single Ozoh out for praise.
He said: “Some great additions, great characters, some leaders and I think some great players also. Ozoh has been in for a couple of days now and he looks like a really good signing.
“Everyone’s gelling together. I think you could see on the field against Chesterfield, we’re still learning about each other, and trying to adapt.
“And yes, I’m excited for the season ahead with this group of players.”
Paul Warne wants Derby County to make more signings
It has been a hectic summer in Derbyshire so far but Warne is still not completely happy with his squad.
Warne has outlined four signings Derby County need to make in the remainder of the transfer window.
The Derby boss listed a striker, number 10, central defender, and left-back as the remaining priorities for his side in the market.
Derby have enquired about Rangers’ Scott Wright – a versatile attacking midfielder who can operate on either flank as well.
Who Derby will fill the rest of the positions with remains to be seen, but they look set for a busy end to the summer transfer window.
