Derby County manager Paul Warne said he was happy with his side’s attacking play but claimed the set pieces were ‘woeful’ after their 0-0 draw with Cambridge United on Saturday afternoon.
After winning at Carlisle last weekend, the Rams played out a draw which they will take as two points dropped, after having 65% of possession and having 12 shots to Cambridge’s four at Pride Park.
Derby will take the positives on the defensive side of things though after picking up their first clean sheet in League One in five games.
But Warne knows they should have won this game, which would have taken them one point off the play-offs had they taken all three points.

“I thought we played really well,” Warne told the Derby Telegraph. “We could have been up after a minute. We created enough chances in the first half to be in front. In fairness to Mark and his team, they made it difficult. They put men behind the ball so you have to move it quick. We did that at times and got down the sides of them.
“We put balls into the box, but didn’t have enough sugar to finish them off. If we had scored late on, we’d come away thinking a really good performance against a team similar on points to us.
“Without goals you can’t win games. We didn’t take our gilt-edged chances and I can’t be much more critical of the lads than that. Our overall play was good, our energy levels were good. We had good aggression. But in fairness our attacking set-pieces were woeful. Apart from that I thought we played well.”
