One Derby County star has been brilliant since he signed for the club this summer.
Paul Warne’s side have got off to a decent start in the 2024/25 Championship campaign.
They have made it abruptly clear that Pride Park will certainly not be an easy place for away sides to come to after making it three wins on the spin at home, all of which resulted in clean sheets.
Whilst there are still issues when on the back foot away from home for Warne’s side, it is clear that the team are more than competent to play at Championship level, and there have been many standouts in the team that have enabled that.
The midfield in particular has been brilliant up to this point, with new arrivals Kenzo Goudmijn and David Ozoh most certainly being the pick of a good bunch, with both already bagging crucial goals at this early stage of the season.
However, there is another new signing that has really done exceptionally well to adapt to Championship level, and it is really proving to be the bargain of the summer for Derby County.

Paul Warne did incredibly well to capture Jacob Widell Zetterstrom deal
Derby County shot-stopper Jacob Widell Zetterstrom has been an exceptional talent up to this point for Warne’s side, and he has lived up to the early bold decision made by the Derby County head coach, who decided to bring him in following a remarkable performance from fellow goalkeeper Josh Vickers vs Middlesbrough.
He arrived from Djurgardens with plenty of expectations, and at the time a fee of £1.4million seemed on the larger side for a young goalkeeper with no Championship or English football experience, however he has more than lived up to the bill and has had an incredible start to life in Derbyshire.

Jacob Widell Zetterstrom’s season by numbers
There is no disputing that Zetterstrom’s Derby County career so far has been enjoyable and he has most certainly made a significant impact at Pride Park, with the stats only backing up that suggestion.
Per SofaScore, Zetterstrom has managed to make 15 saves already, with 1.49 goals prevented, and his last three games in particular have shown his quality, with him conceding just one in those games.
With the ball at his feet he has also been a crucial cog in Warne’s set up, with him tallying 38 touches of the ball up to this point, and accumulating an 81% pass accuracy of balls in his own half.
It was clear at the start of the season that Warne had prioritise a move for a goalkeeper in the summer, and not only did he succeed in that, but he managed to sign a young shot-stopper who has proven to be a real bargain, and will only get better in time.
