One Derby County star has spoken about the expectations he will have to meet after one key injury.

The Rams are set to face off against Hull City this weekend, with the clash providing an opportunity for Paul Warne’s side to continue their fine form at Pride Park.

Derby County will have several injury issues to deal with ahead of the game, including to midfield star David Ozoh, who suffered another setback, meaning that Ben Osborn will have to step up his game.

There are also issues in defence after the long-term injury sustained by Ryan Nyambe, who looks set to be out for up to six months, which will prove to be a massive stumbling block for Warne and his side.

He looks set to be replaced by Kane Wilson at right-back, and the Derby County man has spoken about his ‘amazing’ teammate and how he will look to replicate his brilliant performances.

Derby County star Kane Wilson reflects on Ryan Nyambe injury and sets goals

It will certainly be a huge loss for Derby County, with Nyambe set to be sidelined for several months, however they do have a decent back-up option in Wilson.

The Rams back-up defender has spoken about his teammates injury via the DCFC website, where he said: “It’s horrible really, because me and Ryan [Nyambe] are so close, but that’s football, everyone knows that if someone gets injured, you’re going to get an opportunity.

“But there’s no nice way of putting a four to six months injury, we’re devastated for Ryan.

“He’s amazing. Defensively, he’s scary. So, I’ve got to now try and do my best to impersonate him and be as aggressive in the tackle!

“My heart goes to him and I hope it’s a speedy one and we’ll be there with him.”

Wilson’s game time has been somewhat limited so far this campaign, with him notching just four starts for the Rams.

After not starting the first two games of the season, Nyambe certainly did improve as the campaign went on, with him proving to be a real asset defensively, whilst also offering an impact when moving the ball forward.

As Wilson suggests, he has been ‘amazing’ up until this point, and it will take a lot from the 24-year-old to replicate his brilliant talents.

The Derby County man has not quite had an abundance of game time up until this moment in the season and as a result it will be more difficult for him to get up to speed with the lofty expectations set by the now injured Nyambe.
