Derby County are in store for a frantic final day of the summer transfer window.

Derby County have already been active in this summer’s transfer market, bringing in 10 new players.

Earlier this week, Tawanda Chirewa joined on loan from Wolves, though it seems as though Paul Warne is keen on further additions before the end of the summer transfer window.

There’s some names being linked with moves to Pride Park, with two forwards recently mentioned.

Per reports, Derby County are interested in Victor Adeboyejo at Bolton Wanderers, and also Preston striker Will Keane.

Derby appear to be in need of more firepower after a mixed start to the 2024/25 Championship season, with the Rams’ last outing ending in a 2-1 defeat vs Watford.

Warne though could do with added quality all over the pitch with this season’s Championship roster looking particularly fierce.

Now, ahead of the summer transfer closing on August 30th at 11pm. Warne’s plans for the final day of the summer transfer window have been revealed.

Derby County aiming for busy deadline day

BBC journalist Dominic Dietrich has revealed on X that Warne is currently ‘confident’ of his side getting some deals over the line on Friday.

Dietrich also reveals that Derby County have three transfer targets going into deadline day, but that the club faces stiff competition for their signatures.

Failing the pursuit of those three, Warne may turn to the free agent market after deadline day.

Dietrich posted on X:

The troubles that Derby County face on deadline day

Fans will be wondering why Derby have left seemingly so much of their summer business to the very end.

But it’s likely because of a couple of factors; the start of the season has exposed one or two areas that Warne now feels he need to bolster, and now that the Premier League season has started, there’s more youngsters available for loan deals.

Still, getting one deal over the line on deadline day is a lengthy process, let alone three, so for all involved at Derby County, Friday promises to be a manic day.

And by now, the best free agents have been snapped up, and the ones still available are desperately lacking match fitness, so there’s that factor to consider as well.

That said, with Warne confident of deadline day deals, it could prove to be a very fruitful day for the Rams.
